NRO Heliograph Tohban's Report for Week 34 (16 August 1999 - 22 August 1999) Tohban : H. Nakajima 1. Solar Activity Solar activity was rather high in this week. NORH observed an intense (M9.8) flare, while most of the remainings are B and C classes. Remarkable Events found by NRH We observed an intese microwave flare (M9.8) and a large prominence eruption this week. The backward-S shaped sigmoid in AR 8668 is a target of Max Millennium Observing Plan. For this region, we observed an interesting microwave activity which travels along the sigmoid. (1) A weak activity was observed to travel along the sigmoid on August 16. The bright, stationary microwave source was located around the southern part of the sigmoid. The weak activity propagated toward the north from this source. (2) A large prominence eruption was observed at the south-east limb from 04:53 UT to 06:55 UT on August 17 at the south-east limb. A splended CME was also reported by SOHO/LASCO. (3) An intense microwave flare (GOES M9.8) was observed in AR8674 (S24S64) from 22:30 UT to 23:06 UT on August 20. This flare is short in duration and cmpact in structure with some extension toward higher corona. 3. Observing log An instrumental test was carried out on August 19. Due to this test, the E27 and E28 antennas ware not used for the observation during 01:45 - 03:30 UT. 4. Next tohban K. Hori +--End of Report--
