Study 000296: ACRONYM: cavity_dem The study is designed to be used in examining the density and temperature characteristics of prominence and prominence cavities through the fitting of DEM curves at every pixel in a set of spectroscopic images. Previous observing runs have been done on cavities using dhb_polar_scan, pry_ch_density, and gad_raster_2. Analysis on these data sets have provided quality data for preliminary analysis and have been helpful in realizing the design of a cavity specific study. This study makes use of 10 Fe lines (in 9 windows). By focusing solely on iron lines, it is possible to neglect relative elemental abundance errors in the DEM analysis. Two sets of density sensitive lines are chosen, for Fe VIII and Fe XII, with complimentary ranges spanning densities from 10^7-10^10 cm^-3. By using the 2” slit and long exposures, a signal can be obtained well into the corona. A wide FOV is necessary to capture the contrast between the cavity and the surrounding coronal plasma. These features of the study will allow us to better probe the temperature structure of prominence cavities with regard to radial height and in relation to the prominence.
