The GOES X-ray events compiled here (xrYYMM files) are generated by the NOAA 
Space Environment Center.  ***These data are preliminary.***  The times of
beginning, maximum and end are always times of the actual X-ray event,
in contrast to the on-line xrayYYMM files which carry the optical flare time
when these can be matched.  Please be advised that these xrYYMM files
have not been quality controlled and will contain errors.  They are added
to the on-line archives because many users need the actual X-ray event times
rather than the optical flare time.  Please do contact the Data Center if
you encounter problems.
