1. Review of action items
None.
2. Boundary conditions
* February maneuvers:
February 8, EIT Offpointing Request -- For proposal details, see:
http://umbra.nascom.nasa.gov/eit/flat/offpoint_2001.pdf
No momentum management maneuver is
needed in conjuction with this activity.
February 22, MM/SK -- Thanks to the ESR and subsequent maneuvers, this
maneuver may or may not be needed. More ranging data
needs to be obtained still in order to calculate
whether or not a maneuver is needed. (TBC in another week
or so).
* MDI Continuous for February:
- 5 day MDI Continuous
Starts Jan 31 at 15:15 UT until Feb. 5 at 23:40 UT
- 3 Month MDI Continuous
Starts 28 Feb - end of May. The last month is best effort
First two months Full Disk in best focus.
* Submodes:
Submode 6 until February 26, then Submode 5 until about March 12
* EIT Bakeout, February 16-20
3. JOPs status
New: JOP137 Time Variation and Dynamics of Active Region
Loops II, TRACE/CDS/SUMER, EOF: Terje Fredvik
POC: Olav Kjeldseth-Moe (olav.kjeldseth-moe@astro.uio.no)
(2-week uninterrupted loops campaign).
Status: Accepted. TRACE has to review the JOP description but
should be okay since it has been on their calendar for
a while and Karel is listed as an author.
Modified: JOP136 MMOP009 Default HESSI Collaboration
Status: Modifications acceptable.
4. Priorities for the coming month
a) Joint observing plans
JOP106 (Sigmoidal Active Region Study) continues from previous
months. JOP137 discussed above is scheduled from Feb 27-Mar 12.
JOP136, Default HESSI Collaboration is scheduled from Feb 1-Mar 28 .
SOHO will follow the execution of this test, but actual test runs will
only be executed once or twice (TBD at weekly meetings).
From Feb 12-Feb 25, there are two targets of opportunity proposed
from Ted Tarbell which would involve one long run of each target
in the MDI high resolution field of view.
- Sunspot Umbral flashes, TRACE/MDI/(TBC)
- Quiet Sun UV and WL campaign, TRACE/MDI (TBC)
b) Individual instrument plans
CDS -- Will perform a Full Sun observation on Feb 10 to support the
EIT offpoint maneuver.
UVCS -- Plans have been incorporated into the monthly calendar.
See monthly calendar.
LASCO -- Has asked for an additional stop in the offpoint maneuver
They asked for a stop at 30 arcseconds and will open their
door and monitor their pointing error system.
EIT -- EIT Offpoint flatfield maneuver is high priority.
EIT points out that this date will most likely be the best
calibrated day for EIT over the whole span of the mission.
Comparison with other instruments near this date is therefore
desirable (e.g. CDS full sun).
MDI -- Has the following priorities:
- Jan 31-Feb 5 MDI Full Disk Magnetograms/Dopplergrams (Continuous)
- Feb 6 -Feb 27 MDI Opportunity for high resolution studies
prior to continuous contact.
- Near Feb 27 MDI will switch to full disk best focus.
TRACE -- Will try and support the EIT offpoint with a Full Sun Mosaic.
even though they will still be in eclipse season.
They will support with 171 and perhaps other wavelengths.
c) Intercalibration activities
Intercal 1 (TBC), SUMER/CDS/EIT, POC: Werner Curdt
Feb 26/27 will discuss with Werner the scheduling when
he arrives.
5. Preview of future months
* See the Monthly Calendar at:
http://sohowww.nascom.nasa.gov/soc/head_calendar.html
* Apr 19-May 31 JOP104 Doppler Shifts in X-ray Jets (TBC),
CDS/SUMER/EIT [/UVCS/TRACE/HESSI/Yohkoh]
POC: Davina Markiewicz-Innes
* May 14-27 MEDOC Campaign #7
MEDOC POC: Karine Bocchialini (bocchialini@ias.fr)
MEDOC Planners: medoc-cmp@medoc.medoc-ias.u-psud.fr
6. AOB
* Next SPWG: February 16, 2000 at 2:00 pm in EAF.
* As of next week, Gareth Lawrence will be replacing Simon Plunkett for
LASCO items. Simon will be working more on STEREO.
* REMINDER: DSN support should be requested at least 6 months in advance.
Keep this in mind for: ground-based collaborations that require MDI
support, stellar observations that require NRT, etc.
