WEEKLY MEETING MINUTES May 18- 24 1. Announcements ----------------- Next Tuesday before 13:50 UT, we will be switching from PACOR to IRTS for real-time data acquisition. ECS Staff may also request QKL files from PACOR so teams can perform more data quality comparisons. Although no problems have been reported with previous uses, please notify an ECS Staff member if any discrepancies are found. We are currently scheduled to be on the IRTS system permanently by July 1, 1998. The FOT will be also be prime on the new POCC system during the day and on the original system at night for 2 weeks of testing starting Monday. If that works well they will switch to the new system day and night for another month of testing. If all works well, they will then remain on the new system permanently. 2. Operations Constraints ------------------------- * DSN Schedule: Nothing unusual. * Submodes: Submode 6 all week. 3. Coordinated Operations -------------------------- The following observations are planned: M May 18 (W21) Scintillation Measurements with Mars Global Surveyor (#5155), UVCS/Mars Global Surveyor, POC: Shadia Habbal (UVCS) North Polar Plumes (#5176), TRACE/MDI/LaPalma/CDS, 9-12 UT EOF: Craig DeForest Blinkers (#5177), MDI/TRACE/CDS, 13 - 19 UT Target: MDI high resolution field, EOF: Bill Thompson JOP075 (#5075), Time Variation and Dynamics of Active Region CDS/EIT/MDI/TRACE, Target of Opportunity, POC: Paal Brekke 19-24 UT T May 19 Scintillation Measurements with Mars Global Surveyor (#5155), UVCS/Mars Global Surveyor, POC: Shadia Habbal (UVCS) JOP075 (#5075), Time Variation and Dynamics of Active Region CDS/EIT/MDI/TRACE, Target of Opportunity, POC: Paal Brekke 00:00-07:00 UT. Submodes: Submode 6 all week. Planners for Week 21: SOL - Bill Thompson TRACE - Ted Tarbell CDS - Bill Thompson SUMER - SUMER Off/No Planner UVCS - S. Habbal/ G.Poletto EIT - Frederic Auchere MDI - Craig DeForest LASCO - Ken Dere Relevant Notes -------------- CDS -- Aside from aforementioned campaigns, there are timeslots available for TRACE collaborations or post-flare loop campaigns. Monday - Wednesday at start of real-time contacts running a flare interrupt campaign. IF a flare occurs, they will interrupt the current sequence to observe post-flare loops. Tuesday - 14 -21 UT Wednesday - 14 - 19 UT Thursday, after full sun spectra observation, doing a flat field. Friday - Begin supporting 2 week long active region monitoring campaign with TRACE. (Will observe one hour every 6-8 hours each day.) LASCO - Synoptic program. On two days, running Fabry-Perot program on Tuesday and Thursday from 15-20 UT, during this time EIT will only be able to take one image per hour. EIT - 195 A CME watch in Submode 6 (full-field, full-resolution) all week. UVCS - Mars Global Surveyor Campaign continues through Wednesday, May 20. Then not certain yet of plans, possibly a coronal hole campaign at one of the poles. May talk to TRACE offline about possible collaboration. MDI - Monday, 9-12 UT FD mags for plume studies 13-19 UT high resolution magnetograms, velocities and continuum images in support of Blinkers study. Full disk magnetograms during other periods on Monday. Tuesday, calibrations from 16:30 - 20:00 then full disk magnetograms and velocities until Wednesday. Thursday -- at ~ 10:46 bringing down full disk magnetograms & continuum. for the rest of the week.
