WEEKLY MEETING 29 MARCH 1996 CHAIR: Eliane Larduinat MINUTES: Eliane Larduinat and Luis Sanchez Agenda 1) Monthly schedule updates 2) Status of activities performed during week of March 25. 3) Planned DSN schedule for week of April 01. 4) Planned science activities for week of April 01. 5) AOB ________________________________________________________________________ OVERVIEW OF ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED FOR APRIL 1996 (Note ** ... ** for new/corrected information) ** 1) J3. Off-pointing test. After discussions between EIT (J-P DeLaboudiniere) and SUMER and GOLF, it was agreed to extend the original scope of the J3 test to incorporate the extention to 20 Arcmins in both the East and West directions for EIT calibration. The plan is for SUMER to close their door prior to the E/W part of the test. LASCO would close their door for both off_pointing. The total duration of the test is 10h 40m for the N/S off-pointing and about 14h for the E/W off-poiting. Because of DSN contact availability, we propose to perform the N/S off-poiting on Tuesday April 2 and the E/W off-pointing on Thursday April 4. We understand that potential problems for other experiments caused by the additional 10 arcminutes off-pointing requested by EIT, have been evaluated and accepted by the PIs unless we would be notified otherwise. 2) Intercalibrations: Intercal 002 was not performed on March 28 as planned. Responsible persons for coordinating Intercalibrations, in lieu of absent JOP-leaders: ICAL001: Udo Schuehle (SUMER) ICAL002: Andrzej Fludra (CDS) ICAL009: John Kohl, Joe Michels (UVCS) ________________________________________________________________________ MARCH/APRIL SCHEDULE UPDATE (updated March 29) M Mar 25 (W13) Intercal 001, 1hr SVM Command List Function Test (done) T Mar 26 VIRGO LOI cover opening (done in one day) W Mar 27 T Mar 28 80-hour contact (MDI) ** Intercal 002 not performed ** F Mar 29 80-hour contact (MDI), Intercal 009 S Mar 30 80-hour contact (MDI) S Mar 31 Start of the 34-meter antenna support Planned end of commissioning phase M Apr 01 (W14) 6 hrs SVM-reserved for memory dump T Apr 02 J3 - Off-pointing (N/S) W Apr 03 Contingency for J3 (N/S): 14h pass T Apr 04 J3 - Off-pointing (E/W) with EIT extension F Apr 05 Contingency for J3 (E/W): 19h pass S Apr 06 XBP campaign S Apr 07 XBP campaign M Apr 08 (W15) Intercal 002, phase 2 XBP campaign T Apr 09 Above Limb Intercal 009 XBP campaign W Apr 10 Intercal 001 XBP campaign T Apr 11 Intercal 002, phase 1 XBP campaign F Apr 12 XBP campaign S Apr 13 XBP campaign S Apr 14 Special ISTP configuration (WIND, Geotail) M Apr 15 (W16) T Apr 16 W Apr 17 T Apr 18 F Apr 19 SPWG S Apr 20 S Apr 21 M Apr 22 (W17) T Apr 23 W Apr 24 MDI Continuous T Apr 25 MDI Continuous F Apr 26 MDI Continuous S Apr 27 S Apr 28 M Apr 29 (W18) T Apr 30 END "FIRST MONTH OF SOHO SCIENCE" W May 01 T May 02 F May 03 S May 04 S May 05 NOTES: - LASCO confirms the participation in Intercal 009 on March 29. - Next 3 days continuous contact is April 24-26. - Bernhard Fleck is coordinating the SOHO support for the XBP campaign. - J3 is presently set up for 10 arc minutes maximum off-pointing, with no special dwelling time at the extreme positions. LASCO will need to close their doors, but will open them for Wednesday if the contingency time that day is not used for the test. E/W can be done only on Thursday, because there is not enough time on Wednesday. VIRGO will have to adjust the time tag commands to be executed during the test depending on the schedule and primarily the exact start time ofthe test. MDI would prefer to have HR during the entire J3, but this is not absolutely needed: VC2 could start just before the arrival at 10 arc minutes. - There is not enough people present at the present meeting to decide about J3 extension to 20 arc minutes (and an one hour dwell time there), as requested by EIT. SUMER, GOLF and VIRGO confirm they have no problems with this extension to 20 arc minutes. The movement from 10 to 20 arc minutes will be done at a speed of 30 arc second per minute. - A 6 hours period for S/C memory dump is going to be reserved on a bi-monthly basis. During that time, NRT will not be available , but instrument telemetry will not be affected. - Currently, the S/C is off-pointed about 3 arc minutes. Matra can remove this offset if requested by the PIs. - Eliane requests an update of the IAPs from the teams since many activities were not taken into account (for instance J3). Also an effort should be made to provide more information concerning the projected activities (example, provide ccordinates even if rough estimate only) ________________________________________________________________________ MEETINGS SOHO Daily Meeting Every day 10am in the EOF, April 3 , 9:00 am at EOF SOHO Weekly Meeting Every Friday following the daily meeting in the EOF Science Club meeting Every Wednesday ** 3:30 pm ** in the EAF Monthly meeting April 19.
