SOHO Daily Meeting Minutes for Monday 16 July 2007 (DOY 197) Prepared by: Emily Zamkoff ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * RHESSI default target, http://solar.physics.montana.edu/hypermail/mmmotd/ HINODE operations, http://www.isas.jaxa.jp/home/solar/hinode_op/ STEREO operations, http://stereo-ssc.nascom.nasa.gov/plans.shtml * Automation ORR on Thursday at 9:30am local time. * Announcement for EOF people: As part of the transition to the new IP space and switching hardware, it was decided this afternoon that newer, higher bandwidth cabling between the switch rack by the door to the SOC office and each of the rooms in the EOF will be carried out by MOMS personnel on Monday and/or Tuesday. Please watch out for the plastic safety cones: there may be floor tiles missing! In addition, we will need to replace all the hubs and switches in each experimenter room. Initially, they will be replaced with 16-port, unmanaged switches. In order to meet IONet requirements, however, we will by the end of the year or so be replacing those in turn with 12-port, managed switches that will be owned and managed by IONet. There will be one in each room, and all your machines will need to be connected to the switch in your room, rather than to a wall port. Sorry if that causes some digging for cables, but in the long run it should help performance --- all the switches, both the interim and final ones, will be capable of carrying 10 Mbps, 100 Mbps, and Gbite Ethernet --- as well as security. We will start testing with some of the EIT machines (since none of them is used for commanding) as soon as the new switches are in place in the rack, using an existing Gbit switch in the EIT office. If all goes well, we'll move on from there to other systems that are experiencing issues with server connections since the servers switched IP addresses.
