* Solar science seminar Wednesday Oct 23 at 3:30 p.m., in SOHO EAF
(Bldg. 26, room G-10), Valery Nakariakov (U. Warwick) will
talk about "Slow Magnetoacoustic Waves in the Solar Corona."
* SDO Fun Run on Thursday 24 October
* SPWG on Friday at 2pm in the EAF
* Sunday 27 October: US & European Daylight Savings ends, GSFC

* No student ECS operator will be in the office on Saturday. If
anyone needs a SOC, call/page Joan or Emily.

Spacecraft Status: Nominal
Spacecraft Anomalies:
291/0913 CEPAC ESU Data Request Error; Recovered
autonomously after 3 minutes.
293/2257 MIAEMTR violated configuration monitor for one
format. MDI representative notified. Impacts TBD.
Accomplished Activities:
DOY 291: VIRGO, SWAN, RSL, New tracking star, mag = 6.55
DOY 292: VIRGO

Planned Activities: VIRGO, CELIAS, Switch to Science Submode 5,
SUMER resumes science operations, MEDOC campaign begins
Upcoming Operations: None
Ground Anomalies:
291/1423 Failed to receive monitor data from D16 for 4
minutes due to a TSP failure.
291/1953 Loss of CMD and TLM due to a D16 auto track
failure. Lost one command, approximately 1 minute
15 seconds of unrecoverable TLM, and delayed NRT
activities 9 minutes.
292/0440 SH4XT1 hung, cause unknown. SH4WS2 also hung due
to the problem with the x-terminal. Both terminals
were inoperatable from 0440 until 0530.
294/0012 Lost 6 minutes 55 seconds of TLM and CMD due to a
MPA failure at D46. Lost data is unrecoverable.
294/0705 Incorrect clock correlation output due to a TCA
failure at D66.

Observations will resume tomorrow morning after the 12 hours thermal
stabilization
*EIT is in 2x2 binned images mode
*SUMER will support JOP 131 only if a target (prominence) is available
over a pole.
Solar Activity
AR162, chosen last friday as target for JOP 131 and 157, produced two
M1-M2 flares over the week-end. EIT reports a moderate activity during
the past few days.
Instruments Planning for 10/21 and 10/22
*The target for JOP 157 is AR 162.
*The target for JOP 131 is the filament at (-10', -18')
