SOHO Daily Meeting Minutes for Friday, 21 July 2000 Chaired by: J. Hollis (SOC) DOY: 203 ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * Reminder, SPWG at 2:00 pm today. * Data from 00:40 - 01:20 UT today is being requested as a QKL file. Data did not come in real-time to the ECS, reason was likely to be a network problem. FOT REPORT ---------- Spacecraft Status: Nominal, CTOF OFF Spacecraft Anomalies: None Accomplished Activities: VIRGO, Nom. HGA Table, Enabled experiment off-pointing for LASCO Planned Activities: VIRGO, RSL, Change control star, mag = 7.1 Upcoming Operations: None Ground Anomalies: 202/1703 UPS went down during maintenance, disrupting power to the operational string, IRTS, and the EOF. FOT failed over to a backup string. EOF was down for approx. 32 minutes. 202/1929 VDA failure in D16's front end resulted in the inability to command for 31 minutes. 202/2250 Lost uplink due to a PA fialure at D16. Lost ability to command for 4 minutes. SOLAR STATUS ------------ EIT daily On-Line Solar Status and observations: http://umbra.nascom.nasa.gov/eit/plan/log_form20000721.html LASCO daily On-Line Solar Status and observations: http://lasco-www.nrl.navy.mil/observations/2000/obs20000721.html INSTRUMENT STATUS ----------------- CDS: CDS is nominal. Thursday's science operations were dominated by detector tests (including the atlases) and the synoptic scan, but a long ejection sequence at the end of the day on the NW limb has some intriguing results. Did we catch a CME onset?? Watch this space. For Friday in addition to the standard synoptic and monitoring sequences, we are running a loops Study for Oslo, Andrzej's sunspot oscillations programme and the mini-CME sequence. The science plan for Saturday and Sunday is given below. 00/07/22 00:00:00 06:25:38 6h25m38s Study 37/4 Pointing fixed from 0 880 NIS SYNOP_F Synoptic Meridian Images 00/07/22 *06:25:38 06:38:55 13m17s Study 0/2 Pointing 0 0 , ENG-AT QCM Logging 00/07/22 07:18:36 15:18:49 8h0m13s Study 11/55 Pointing -58 474 NIS EE_SEEK Explosive Event Study 00/07/22 *15:18:49 16:33:37 1h14m47s Study 126/1 Pointing -58 474 NIS, SLIT4_5 Slit4 5 test 00/07/22 *16:33:37 17:48:25 1h14m47s Study 126/1 Pointing -58 474 NIS, SLIT4_5 Slit4 5 test 00/07/22 18:30:00 23:39:10 5h9m10s Study 11/75 Pointing from 110 1040 NIS STRE4W Off Limb Coronal Studies 00/07/23 00:00:00 06:25:52 6h25m52s Study 37/4 Pointing 0 880 NIS SYNOP_F Synoptic Meridian Images 00/07/23 *06:25:52 06:36:10 10m17s Study 0/2 Pointing 0 0 , ENG-AT QCM Logging 00/07/23 07:04:49 12:15:05 5h10m16s Study 11/75 Pointing from 110 -1040 NIS STRE4W Off Limb Coronal Studies 00/07/23 12:40:53 22:44:52 10h3m59s Study 11/18 Pointing (mosaic) from 924 516 NIS EJECT_V3 CME Onset Study (* Not time tagged) UVCS: Nominal. Today and through the weekend UVCS will be doing instrument characterization studies and mini synoptics. LASCO: Nominal. LASCO's doors were opened at 21:10 UT yesterday. C2 and C3 synoptics have been resumed. EIT: Nominal. 195 Angstrom CME watch and synoptics. MDI: Nominal. MDI is observing AR 9097 in the high res field of view from 10:30 until 17:45 UT today and then will return to full disk magnetograms and dopplergrams. TRACE: Nominal. TRACE observed AR 9087 this morning. This afternoon a filament near the SE limb will be studied. Filament studies will be resumed in August. During the weekend TRACE plans to do active region studies, target is TBD. Filament movie available at: http://chippewa.nascom.nasa.gov/~dcm/temp/000719_filament.mov
