SOHO Daily Meeting Minutes for Friday, 16 June 2000 Chaired by: L. Roberts (SOC) DOY: 168 ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * Saturday there will be a power outage in Building 26 between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. local GSFC time. FOT REPORT ---------- Spacecraft Status: Nominal Spacecraft Anomalies: None Accomplished Activities: VIRGO, SWAN, NOM HGA Planned Activities: VIRGO, SWAN, CELIAS, RSL Table, 26m Automation test (2000-0030, including SSR dump) Upcoming Operations: Ground Anomalies: None SOLAR STATUS ------------ SOLAR ACTIVITY FORECAST (UPDATED 15 JUNE AT 22 UT): SOLAR ACTIVITY IS EXPECTED TO BE LOW TO MODERATE. SEVERAL REGIONS ARE CAPABLE OF PRODUCING M-CLASS FLARES WITH A CHANCE FOR AN ISOLATED X-CLASS FLARE. GEOPHYSICAL ACTIVITY FORECAST: THE GEOMAGNETIC FIELD IS EXPECTED TO BE QUIET TO UNSETTLED. ISOLATED ACTIVE CONDITIONS ARE POSSIBLE THE FIRST DAY OF THE FORECAST AS THE CORONAL HOLE ROTATES OUT OF POSITION THROUGH THE DAY. 06/15 DOY 167 - 06/16 DOY 168 EIT daily On-Line Solar Status and observations: http://umbra.nascom.nasa.gov/eit/plan/log_form20000616.html LASCO daily On-Line Solar Status and observations: http://lasco-www.nrl.navy.mil/observations/2000/obs20000616.html INSTRUMENT STATUS ----------------- CDS: Nominal. Synoptics every day. Supporting JOP112 today from 7 to 19 UT. Then CDS will observe an AR near the limb with TRACE from 19:50 until 23:44 UT. Saturday - JOP112 from 7 to 19 UT followed by off-limb coronal study. Sunday - off-limb coronal study and CME onset study. SUMER: Nominal. Today - JOP112 all day except 13-16 UT when doing Helium emission in a dynamic sun study with EIT. JOP112 all day Saturday. UVCS: Nominal. Synoptics and JOP112 today at 1.6 and 1.9 Rsun at 148.2 degrees. Saturday & Sunday -- JOP112 at 2.2 Rsun and 4-hour mini synoptics. LASCO: Nominal. C2 and C3 synoptics, perhaps some high cadence C2 over weekend (TBD). EIT: Nominal. 195 Angstrom CME watch and synoptics. Also today, EIT will support SUMER in the helium emission study for 50 minutes at 13 UT and at 14:30 UT in shutterless mode. EIT will then perform pre-bakeout calibrations. The bakeout will begin today at 20 UT. The last images prior to the bakeout will be at 15:30 UT today. MDI: Nominal. Full disk magnetograms and dopplergrams. TRACE: Nominal. TRACE will continue to observe AR 9046, now near the NE limb. There will be a synoptic scan in the morning. We are considering this target for a long observing run through the next 12-14 days. N.B. From Saturday through Tuesday (June 17-20) TRACE will make a single wavelength Full-Disk Mosaic for SOHO planning purposes.
