SOHO Daily Meeting Minutes for Monday, 07 February 2000 Chaired by: J. Hollis (SOC) Notes by: S. Gregory (MDI) DOY: 038 FOT REPORT ---------- Spacecraft Status: Nominal Spacecraft Anomalies: 036/0609 - EIT mnemonic ETE4 violated YH limit 036/1015 - CEPAC ESU Data Request Error (self-corrected) Accomplished Activities: DOY 035 - VIRGO, CELIAS, SWAN, RSL DOY 036 - VIRGO DOY 037 - VIRGO, NONCOHO Planned Activities: VIRGO, SWAN, New tracking star (6.6 mag) Upcoming Operations: Feb 10 - Start MDI Continuous Ops (5 days) Ground Anomalies: None There was an error in the roll steering law (RSL) table uploaded roughly 15/16 UT on Tuesday, February 1 until Friday, February 5. For these days, the spacecraft was 16" behind the nominal RSL. A correction was made for this in Friday's RSL upload (roughly 15/16 UT). SOLAR STATUS ------------ SOLAR ACTIVITY FORECAST: SOLAR ACTIVITY IS EXPECTED TO BE LOW TO MODERATE. REGION 8858 RETAINS THE MOST POTENTIAL FOR M-CLASS ACTIVITY. ISOLATED LOW C-CLASS FLARES ARE POSSIBLE FROM SEVERAL SMALL REGIONS ON THE VISIBLE DISK. GEOPHYSICAL ACTIVITY FORECAST: THE GEOMAGNETIC FIELD IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE AT UNSETTLED TO ACTIVE LEVELS WITH MINOR STORMING PERIODS LIKELY AT HIGH LATITUDES DURING LOCAL NIGHTTIME HOURS. THE EFFECTS OF THIS CORONAL HOLE RELATED DISTURBANCE SHOULD START SUBSIDING LATE ON DAY ONE. EXPECT MOSTLY QUIET TO UNSETTLED CONDITIONS DURING DAYS TWO AND THREE. MATERIAL FROM YESTERDAY'S IMPRESSIVE X1/3B CORONAL MASS EJECTION ALL APPEARED TO BE EASTWARD BOUND FROM ITS SOURCE NEAR THE NE LIMB AND WILL LIKELY NOT EFFECT EARTH. No EIT observation web page for today since EIT was doing a bakeout all weekend. Observations are scheduled to resume following calibrations today. - X.1 Flare from AR8858 at 19:17 UT on Saturday, February 5. - UVCS observed CMEs at 20 and 22 UT February 5 and 16:30 UT, February 6 - TRACE observed the solar eclipse on Saturday, February 5. INSTRUMENT STATUS ----------------- CDS: Nominal. Full Sun Scan, Monitoring Observations today; Sunspot Observations and CME watch with UVCS tomorrow. UVCS: Nominal. CME Watch today; CME watch tomorrow with CDS starting ~14 UT. LASCO: Nominal. C2/C3 Synoptics. EIT: Nominal. Bakeout through the weekend; resuming 195A CME Watch later today after calibrations. MDI: Nominal. Full Disk Magnetograms and cropped Dopplergrams. TRACE: Nominal. Observing AR8858 today; VLA Observations tomorrow. VLA taking full disk observations, will stick with AR8858 until they hear otherwise from VLA collaborators.
