SOLAR STATUS ------------ SOLAR ACTIVITY FORECAST: SOLAR ACTIVITY SHOULD BE AT LOW TO MODERATE LEVELS FOR THE NEXT THREE DAYS. THE REGIONS ROTATING OVER THE NORTHEAST LIMB POSSESS THE CAPABILITY OF PRODUCING OCCASIONAL M-CLASS EVENTS. THERE IS A SLIGHT CHANCE OF AN X-CLASS EVENT FROM THIS AREA. GEOPHYSICAL ACTIVITY FORECAST: THE GEOMAGNETIC FIELD SHOULD REMAIN QUIET TO SLIGHTLY UNSETTLED FOR THE NEXT THREE DAYS. Large M flare on 6/20, source unknown at this point. Some active regions coming over the NE limb, soon to be in MDI high resolution field of view. A lot of C class flares over the weekend. EIT observed: 6/18 20:01 UT: C7 flare from AR 8585 21:46 UT: Large loops on the NW limb, CME from behind which blew off loops 6/19 13:26 UT: Dark material from AR 8588, C6 flare which created a nice wave. 6/20 15:38 UT: M flare, source currently unknown 19:13 UT: Filament/ CME just over NE limb 6/21 01:13 UT: C4 flare, long duration, from 01:13 to 02:00 UT INSTRUMENT STATUS ----------------- CDS: Nominal. JOP 108 on AR 8585 until 6/22, will change pointing on 6/22 to NE. Helium study begins 6/22 from 16:00-18:00 UT. JOP 98 from 18:00 UT to 24:00 UT in NE limb. UVCS: Nominal. 2 weeks of global coronal study. LASCO: Nominal. C2/C3 synoptics. EIT: Nominal. CME watch, full field, full resolution. MDI: Nominal. Full disk campaign, with cropped dopplergrams and full disk magnetograms. May switch to high resolution field of view when AR in NE gets closer to high res. fov. TRACE: Nominal. JOP 98 pointing has changed. Supporting CDS synoptic, JOP 108 next, and then back to JOP 98.
