07 April 1998 SOHO Daily Meeting Minutes Chair: J. Hollis (SOC) Notes: S. Plunkett (EIT) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- The TRACE meeting has been postponed until next week. Time and place TBD. FOT BRIEFING ------------ Spacecraft Status: Nominal Spacecraft Anomalies: None Accomplished Activities: RSL, VIRGO Planned Activities: RSL, VIRGO Upcoming Operations: 4/17 Station Keeping Maneuver Ground Anomalies: 096/1634 - TM Dropout; JPL Comm equipment (SFG) swap, (4 minutes, recoverable) SOLAR ACTIVITY -------------- Large active region loops in SE, extending to edge of EIT field of view. Filament channel on the disk just to the west of this AR complex. Northward extension of southern polar coronal hole extends to the equator. Three distinct, faint CMEs observed to SE by LASCO after 18:00 yesterday. EIT saw what appeared to be a small flare, with bright cusped post-flare loops, in the SE AR at ~17:00. CME on NW limb observed by EIT at ~09:00 today - probably a polar crown filament eruption. Another CME in progress on NW limb as meeting was in progress, starting at ~11:20. Instrument Status: ----------------- CDS- Nominal. Today doing Intercal 001 and tests of a Full Sun program. Tomorrow doing more Full Sun tests and doing a study of sunspots on the disk. SUMER - Not observing. UVCS -- Nominal. Yesterday performed a study of the AR off the SE limb from 1.3 to 1.7 solar radii. No synoptic program yesterday. Today doing flat field calibrations of Lyman alpha detector. LASCO -- Nominal. Doing synoptic program with modified C1 program. EIT -- Nominal. Returned to doing 195 A CME watch yesterday afternoon. Doing Intercal 001 with CDS today and will then continue with CME watch. MDI -- Nominal. Doing helioseismology continuous contact program. TRACE -- Nominal. Seeing evidence of South Atlantic Anomaly in their dark images for about 10 minutes at a time. Yesterday TRACE took their 2,000th image!
