Ground Anomalies: 030/1531 - 51 sec tlm loss, recoverable. Line out between JPL and SPC-10 030/1637 - 36 sec tlm loss, recoverable. Line out between JPL and SPC-10 030/1732 - 45 min tlm loss, recoverable. SFG failure 030/2054 - 8 min degraded tlm, recoverable. Line overflow. 031/1418 - 15 min tlm loss, unrecoverable. Power glitch at station 031/1445 - 50 min tlm loss, recoverable, 20 min delay in NRT. Big pipe down 032/0734 - 30 sec tlm loss, recoverable. Line overflow from SCP 032/1941 - 7 min pause in NRT. Command software anomalies. 033/0017 - 30 sec tlm loss, unrecoverable. Fluctuating AGCs at station, cause unknown. 033/0851 - 8 min cmd loss. Receiver 2 lost lock due to faulty PA. DSN Schedule Updates/Reminders ------------------------------ Tomorrow, 03 Feb Downlink-only station (DSS-63), 0700-1425 UT Friday night (6th), there is still a DSN gap: 0030 - 0238 UT Saturday (7th), former gap 1825-1900 UT, filled in. Submode changes --------------- Currently: submode 6 Tomorrow (Tue, 03 Feb): (LASCO to send RPRs when ready) 1700 UT -- switch to submode 5 for SUMER door opening 1900 UT -- return to submode 6 Instrument Status ----------------- SUMER: Off. Will open door tomorrow, 1700-1900 UT. CDS: Nominal. Fri night, supported XUV rocket. Sat, sunspot observation. Sunday, monthly full Sun images in 6 lines. Today, movies of loop structures at limb near active region in NW quadrant. MDI: Nominal. Friday night, monthly calibration then 10 mins of full-disk magnetograms/continuum images every minute to support XUV rocket. Otherwise, continuous Dynamics campaign. EIT: Nominal. Over the weekend, synoptic program and 195A CME watch. Same for this week, plus CME watch in two filters during normal working hours. UVCS: Nominal. Over the weekend, completed program to measure line shifts in Lyman alpha and O VI. This week, program to measure electron density fluctuations with one-minute cadence at S. Pole. LASCO: Nominal. Through weekend, continued partial frame, high-cadence CME program on west limb. This week running more usual full-frame synoptic mode: C2 frames about every half hour, C3 frames every hour, C1 frames in Fe XIV every 15 mins, Fe X frame every 1-2 hours. Solar Images/Activity --------------------- Solar disk appears fairly quiet. MDI continuum image still shows a spot in region 8143 near SW limb; other small spots elsewhere on disk. H-alpha image shows sign of filament in NE quadrant; shows up well in EIT 304 image. EIT also shows thick filament in N, across equator to W, currently inactive. Ephemeral active region in S near central meridian. Prominence on NW limb, starting at equator; more northerly end is CDS target. EIT saw several CMEs over the weekend: a hint from behind the E. limb on Sat the 31st, 1100-1400 UT. Yesterday saw a small CME from vicinity of AR 8146 near W. limb at 1526 UT; apparently LASCO saw no corresponding event. At 0720 UT today, EIT saw small event on NW limb as an opening of loops, with the main structure on or behind the limb. LASCO saw a large CME on the E limb on Sat the 31st, with continuing outflow. EIT did not detect an event, so the main structure involved was probably again behind the limb. Collaborations -------------- - ISAS XDT rocket flew successfully on Saturday morning. A Web page for top-level access to SOHO observations in support of the XDT rocket flight has been set up at: http://umbra.nascom.nasa.gov/eit/xdt/soho_coobserve.html A corresponding page will be set up for the XDT rocket data. - No collaborations planned for this week.
