27 February Daily Meeting Minutes FOT Briefing: ------------- Spacecraft Status: Nominal-CEPAC ESU OFF ------------------ Anomaly Summary: None Accomplished Activities: RSL, VIRGO. Planned Activities: RSL, VIRGO, CELIAS (2030). Nom HGA table Ground System Anomaly Summary: None Status of the SUN ----------------- >From MDI magnetograms it is clear that the active region seen at the East limb is moving toward the central meridian. >From the NOAA space weather forecasting center we have indications on an increased X-ray activity. EIT (HeII 304) shows the same thing: activity in progress. H-alpha image indicates the presence of some filaments. In summary the Sun is becoming more interesting. There are the conditions for future CME events. The solar wind is very slow, with a signature of high density. Instrument Status: ------------------ MDI: The instrument is nominal. We are taking high resolution magnetograms, dopplergrams and filtergrams. Yesterday we looked at the quiet Sun. Today we are running the JOP021 with CDS and SUMER looking at the central Meridian. Tomorrow we continue the JOP021 with CDS looking at the active region near the disk center. CDS: The instrument is nominal. Yesterday we did the study of the network in the quiet Sun, and a Quiet Sun high cadence study. Today we are doing JOP021 with MDI and SUMER looking at the central Meridian and late we look toward North to do filling factor study. Tomorrow we continue the filling factor study looking toward North and then we move down to do temperature, density, and high resolution scattering study. SUMER: The instrument is nominal. Today we are doing flat field and intercal1 (for internal purposes) and doing quite Sun's network structure study. Today we are joining CDS and MDI in JOP021. LASCO: The instrument is nominal. We didn't see any CME event. We saw only some little bullets of plasma outcoming from both limbs, seen in C2 and C3 only. EIT: The instrument is nominal. We are continuing our CME watch campaign. There was no evidence of CME in the last two days. We are doing some macrospicules statistics. We sow some small events on the limb. UVCS: The instrument is nominal. Yesterday we did observations at 2.45 Rsun to detect solitary waves in coronal hole interplume region, by monitoring density fluctuations using visible polarized brightness. Today we are continuing this campaign at 2.1 Rsun. Tomorrow we'll do the study of streamers' current sheet dynamics from line intensities and profiles. A.O.B ----- The ECS staff received a new version of their planning software which will support multiple campaign numbers, some testing late yesterday afternoon looks good. If experimenters have problems or questions, concerning IAP submissions let the SOC know. With this new software, the CMP_NO keyword will be mandatory in IAPs. However, teams are reminded to use campaign numbers of: 0 = not participating in a campaign or JOP 1 = part of instrument synoptic program Multiple campaign numbers can be submitted (up to 10 entries) in the IAPs, delimited by a comma, for example: CMP_NO = 1,1000
