30 September Daily Planning Meeting minutes Chaired by: Laura Allen, SOC and Martin Huber, SOL week 40 Notes by: MDI (Scott Williams) ANNOUNCEMENTS: 1) Saturday bike ride from Marriott near airport to Mt. Vernon. Start at 10:00, about 1:30 duration, mostly flat, to be followed by picnic. See bulletin board for map and Jean-Phillipe Olive for details. 2) The president of AURA will be visiting the EOF on Thursday. 3) Science Club, Wednesday at 3:30, to feature a talk by Dominic Zarro on Active Region Loops FOT REPORT: S/C nominal. S/C anomalies: none. Accomplished activities: 272/RSL, VIRGO, 273/RSL,Virgo,Celias Planned activities: 274/RSL, Virgo, Celias(1830, 2030), Swan MDI VC2 at 16:15 for two hours. 275/1500-2100 ACU/CDMU memory dumps and TR maintenance, no NRT until after 21:00 G/S anomaly summary: 272/1606 - Line bandwidth problem D24, VC4 delayed until 1822, VC2 at 2000 273/0600 Both TM channels online, D46 16 min degraded data, VC4 delayed, no VC2 273/1837 - Station reports frequency error on CPA, NRT pause while CPA rebooted. 273/1847 - TC block error, 5 min NRT pause PACOR, ECS: Nominal PLAN: Monday Intercal 001, MDI Calibration Tuesday JOP046, Intercal002/Active Region Campaign Wednesday JOP046, Active Region Campaign Thursday JOP042 Friday JOP042, JOP020 INSTRUMENT STATUS: CDS: Nominal. Network and ICAL 1 today. Will support Intercal 002 after JOP046 on Tuesday coordinated with ground site. SUMER: Nominal. Sunday performed coronal study. Received high counts on Detector B from transition region study. Need better s/w or procedures to control configurations to avoid recurrence. CDS measure of solar radiance is about x3 that of SUMERs during intercalibration measurements. UVCS: Nominal. Supporting Intercal 001 today. Will perform pole study if time remains. LASCO: Nominal. Observed CME in the SW at 02:00 UT on Saturday in C2. EIT: Nominal. Made movie showing CME reconnection at s. pole. From CCD bake out, pixels in S.E. quadrant can be seen to be mostly restored in movie. MDI: Nominal. Ran full disk resolution magnetogram/velocity with extract region including south pole over the weekend. The lost VC2 period from 272/0600 included several of the 96 minute magnetograms which can not be recovered. MDI to perform high resolution magnetogram/velocity/continuum campaign to support JOPs 20, 42 and 46 with extract region centered on sun center. NOTES: W. Neupert proposed joint spicule observations with Big Bear and EIT for 10/6-9. Details to be provided tomorrow.
