SOHO Daily Meeting, 22 March 1996 Notes: Rainer Schwenn (LASCO) Chair: Piet Martens FOT report: - S/C is nominal. Instrument status: - GOLF: performed a switch to the redundant side of their electronics and did a functional test, successfully. They switched back to the normal side and started observational sequence. - MDI: did flatfield test, jittertest, software test etc. All nominal. - SUMER: opened door again and started observing prominence, or filament, respectively. - CDS: opened NIS door, looked at filaments, did some raw data dumps. - EIT: ran a 40 min fast test sequence and observed thermal response due to motor heating. Another nice movie was produced, showing lots of dynamics in the 30.4 nm line. - UVCS: all nominal. Is presently observing the distant corona, at 12 Rs. - LASCO: C1 door remains closed, for spectral and flatfield calibrations. - SWAN: is observing comet Hyakutake (right?). Recent pictures were shown. The brightness increases from day to day, now at 6000 R. A movie will be prepared. - CELIAS: A software patch for CTOF was uploaded successfully. Now CTOF is fully operational. Further issues: - Eliane presents plans for the IIDE test on Saturday. The procedure was updated, it is published separately. - Vicente informs the community that next Thursday a group of journalists from the major magazines will visit the EOF. After a briefing they will attend the daily planning meeting and afterwards speak to the individual groups. Be prepared! The journalists are advised to hold back their stories up to the May 2nd show... - On Wednesday, a group from the German embassy will visit the EOF, in order to prepare the visit of the DARA director on May 3rd. - On that occasion, it was agreed that Bernhard Fleck should be nominated to maintain and distribute a PR agenda in order to keep track of the increasing number of visits by VIPs and minimize the disturbance at ongoing operations.
