Minutes from the daily meeting 20/01/96, Beginning at 10:05 Chairwomen: Eliane Notes taken by Walter Schmidt, SWAN 2. Announcements: None 3. FOT report: - Spacecraft: nominal Anomally: A roll anomally was observed between 22:00 and 03:30, exact time still unknown A similar anomally was observed on 18/01 at 02:54:58, when a roll angle deviation of 68" exceeded the 60" limit - DSN status: Contact time from 08:43 - 22:18. The station handover interrupted the telemetry flow to the ECS for more than 10 minutes. A check on the spot verified that POCC received data without interruption. For 15:40 a 20 min. NRT interruption is planned for table uplink Eliane reported that a new DSN schedule until 28/01 was received during the night. 4. Experiment reports - GOLF: Thermal activities ongoing - VIRGO: Still problems with door. To increase the available power all VIRGO instruments were switched off, but without effect. All other VIRGO instruments work correctly - MDI: Software upload for new program, no further activities - SUMER: Camera scans; detector A was switched on in preparation for the high voltage switch-on planned for Monday. The thermal situation is nominal - CDS: VDS-SFT commissioning finnished, CCD-image taken with closed covers. everithing is working - EIT: Full-field full-resolution images taken on all 4 channels. Activities continue today - LASCO: FOT alerted LASCO for a red-limit violation on a delta current. LASCO confirmed that there is no problem. Probably the camera was switched on the moment a heater cycle started. LASCO thanks the FOT for its alertness. As follow-up of yesterday's report about dust particles seen with the coronograph some more details were given: Experience from earlier mission at about 500 km altitude showed about 1 event every few weeks. The stray- light level of the current coronograph is with 10**-12 much better than expected. The 3 particles were observed inside the exposure time of 17 seconds. It seems therefore likely that they originated from the spacecraft. The last attempt of VIRGO to open the door was more than 1 hour before the event. UVCS opened its door about 1 minute before the event. Comment from UVCS: opening the door lasted 1 minute, and it was cracked already earlier. Suggested action: coordinated activities between instrument teams so that in case of UVCS door activites (according to UVCS mainly in connection with momentum management) other instruments' doors can be closed first. The event needs further investigation. -UVCS: Corona brightness measurements were made to optimize instrument offsets. Straylight levels are as expected. -SWAN: Commissioning activities with exploring viewing directions close to the spacecraft continue. So far no major problems are observed. -CELIAS: For CTOFF an accelaration voltage of 19 kV are reached. This is the operational lower limit and will initially be used. As the proton energy peak has to be avoided, the lower energy part of it was explored. Tomorrow the high energy part of it will be measured up to heavier ions. 5. Todays operating schedule: CDS wants to have operational heaters switched off. This would cause about 20 minutes NRT interruption. If impossible it could also be done tomorrow. 6. Tomorrow's program: DSN contact: 08:41 - 22:18. At about 10:30 FOT will upload tables for about 30 minutes, probably directly after CELIAS activi- ties. 7. Other issues: The CMS-crash from the previous day was investigated in off- contact period by replaying NRT commands. The situation could not be simulated.
