SOHO Daily Meeting Notes Meeting chaired by Laura Allen 19 August 1996 (DOY 232) Notes by Julia Saba/MDI --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Announcements: None ------------- FOT Report: ---------- o Spacecraft nominal o Anomalies: none since Saturday. - On Saturday, CELIAS had an apparent red limit on the CTOF power supply. Actually it was a yellow limit, but appeared red because of an old data base. When Toni Galvin came in to the EOF, she found other parameters were out of limit. The CTOF HV was turned down, then off; an independently controlled (I/C) subheater was turned on. The data will be reviewed today (Monday) by the CELIAS team, who will then decide the next step. o Actvities done: DOY 230: Roll Steering Law and VIRGO load uplinked CELIAS OCD 341 to turn down CTOF high voltage; CELIAS OCD 342 to turn off HVPS DOY 231: CELIAS OCD 343 to turn CTOF off, and an I/C subheater on. Roll Steering Law and VIRGO load uplinked. o Activities planned: Roll steering law, and VIRGO and SWAN loads o Ground system anomalies: - 230/1048: POCC String 2 Crash. - 231/1249: 3 min telemetry outage (recoverable) from station D27 due to JPL line problem. - 231/2314: POCC String 2 Crash. - 232/0026: Commands failed to reach spacecraft for 10 mins, with station D46. - 232/0614: 6 min telemtry drop (recoverable) from station D61, due to line overflow. - Note: Retransmission has been requested by the EOF for the 4-hour block of data lost Friday night beginning at 2248 UT (due to a telemetry dropout for JPL lines). Coordinated Operations: ---------------------- o Whole Sun Month (JOP 044) underway. CDS and SUMER are coordinating timing of limb and pole observations. Yohkoh will participate on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Currently scheduled for the wrong limb for Tuesday, but should be able to change if SOHO message got through. o MDI/La Palma collaboration suspended for 4-day MDI continuous dynamics run. However, EIT continues 10 hours (0800-1800 UT) of observations each day, in JOP 001 mode, in coordination with LaPalma. o SUMER/Tenerife joint study of Sunspot Oscillations begins tomorrow, for 5 days, from 0800-1900 UT. Instrument status/plans: ----------------------- o CDS nominal. Over the weekend, supported JOP 044, in coordination with SUMER. Observed N. coronal hole on Saturday and S. coronal hole on Sunday. Today will observe the E. limb starting at 0600, then the N. coronal hole. o SUMER nominal. Over the weekend, supported JOP 044. Today will run calibrations, then run a filament test. Will make off-limb observation of coronal hole in south, then support Sac Peak Campaign. Late afternoon, will make a detector distortion measurement, and run a short test of the mode for collaboration with Tenerife. Tomorrow will support Tenerife campaign, then study coronal hole (SE), then make a reference spectrum on the dark filament in the SE [if it is still there]. o UVCS nominal. Running synoptic program every night this week. Will make a study of O VI and Lyman-alpha intensities and line profiles at successive position angles, from 135 deg (measured ccw from N. pole) to -15 deg, in 30 deg steps, except for Thursday, when it will study Alpha Leo. o LASCO nominal. Saw CME this morning in SE at about 11 UT. Software testing this week. Will make 2-3 images/day of Regulus in the C3 detector; the star will cross the meridian on the 22nd at 0644 +/- an hour. o EIT nominal. Continuing JOP 001 observations at 30-minute cadence, to support LaPalma observations even when MDI can't. GIF movies being put on Web. Current coverage is 10-hours per day, due to telemtry limitations. Most recent EIT HeII 304 image available at meeting, from 0839 UT today, showed dark filament still present in the SE, at the polar crown. o MDI nominal. Running in dynamics mode during 4-day continuous contact. Will get full-disk velocity and line-depth images once per minute, and full-disk magnetograms every 96 minutes. Will run in this mode until early Friday morning. Will then support JOPs 041, 044, and 048. AOB: None. ---
